After Men now India invited Women Farmers to Indian Agricultural Centres
BUDGAM, Dec 27: Fifteen women are among 40 progressive farmers from the Kashmir valley visiting different research centres in different parts of the north India. . . .
This is for the first time women farmers from central Kashmir district of Budgam and Srinagar are visiting research centres outside the Kashmir.
The tour has been organised by the Directorate of Agriculture Training Kashmir under RKVY programme of exchange visit of farmers outside the Kashmir.
Officials said the farmers shall be visiting various research centres, Agriculture Universities and allied fields of Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture, Animal Husbandry, Poultry and Diary Technology of some temperate zone of northern India.
They said such visits will boost the morale of the farmers and will also provide them the opportunity to interact with the farmers of the India and that of the Agricultural scientists, Research scholars and related field functionaries.
The touring farmers will get acquainted with latest technology and by implementing the same, they will be able to practically apply it in the field and increase farm income.
Joint Director of Agriculture, Khurshid Qasba while interacting with the farmers, before they left for Jammu from here today, said that the department’s thrust area is to introduce latest Agriculture technical know how for farming community to yield best results in production and productivity.
He appealed to those interested to register their names with the respective Chief Agriculture Officers of their Districts for participation in such type of Study tours.
So far, more than 200 farmers from different parts of the Valley have visited these centres during the past two months.
