Hurriyat (G) calls for shutdown in Sopore on Jan 6
SRINAGAR, Dec 31: All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman Jenab Syed Ali Geelani has called for a shutdown in Sopore town on 6th January to mark the 19th anniversary of massacre and burning of the town by Indian troops.
More than 50 persons were killed, a dozen of them roasted alive, while 350 shops and residential houses were gutted after the troops set the town ablaze on 6th January in 1993.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued from New Delhi said that there would be complete shutdown on 6th January in Sopore against the incident.
The statement while condemning the cruel and brutal tactics of the Indian armed forces to suppress the liberation movement said that the Kashmiris would not allow go waste the sacrifices rendered by the people for the righteous cause.
