Police baton-charged striking trade unionists

Police today resorted to baton charge to disperse the striking trade unionists during a rally held in Srinagar in protest against "anti-labour" policies of the Centre. The police resorted to baton charge and fired coloured water cannons to disperse the rally of trade unionists at Sher-e-Kashmir Park srinagar after they tried to take out a procession.

Condemning the police action on the trade union activists CPI (M) state secretary M Y Tarigami said, "Such tactics cannot silence the voice of the people." He said the trade unions will continue to raise the issues of the working class people.
