Land transferred to Jammu, Kashmir Central Varsities

JAMMU, Mar 1: The Jammu and Kashmir government today said that about 375 acres of land each have been transferred to the Jammu and Kashmir Central Universities in the state. Replying to a question by Yashpal Kundal in the Legislative Assembly today,
Minister for Higher Education Abdul Gani Malik today said that about 375 acres of land each have been transferred to Jammu and Kashmir Central Universities in the state. He said that about over 580 acres and over 540 acres of land has been identified for the establishment of the Central Universities at Jammu and Kashmir respectively, out of which 375 acres and over 415 acres stand transferred for these universities and the process of transferring the remaining land is in progress. The minister said that the job of land survey and contour mapping has been assigned to Educational Consultants India Limited (EDCIL) after which master plans will be formulated and the construction work taken up. At present, both the CUs are functional in the rental accommodation, he said. The Minister also gave a detailed account about the funds sanctioned by UGC for satellite campuses of two state universities and various construction works taken up there.
