Proposal Submitted to Centre for 142 SDCs: J&K Govt


JAMMU; Mar 01: The Jammu and Kashmir government has submitted a proposal to the Centre for setting up 142 Skill Development Centres (SDCs) in the state, the Assembly was informed today.

In reply to the question of a member, Minister for Technical Education R S Chib today said the state government has submitted the proposal to avail funding for the same.
The construction of one such centre at Langate in Kupwara would be also considered once the Centre approves the proposal and releases the funds, he added.
Chib said polytechnic colleges are also being set up at district level in those places which are easily accessible for students.
The infrastructure for ITI Udhampur is being upgraded and steps have been also initiated for construction of Polytechnic Complex at Udhampur, he said.
