Rs 886.47 lac received for Madrassa education: J&K govt
JAMMU; Mar 01: Jammu and Kashmir government said on Thursday that funds of Rs 886.47 lakh were received from the Government of India for providing quality education in madrassas from 2009 in the state. The government gave a written reply to a question raised by CPI (M) MLA M Y Tarigami seeking year-wise details of funds received from 2009 to 2012 for implementation of centrally-sponsored schemes.
"The funds received from the Government of India for implementation of centrally-sponsored scheme for providing quality education in madrassas from 2009 to 2012 is Rs 886.47 lakh," the government in its reply said.
On criteria adopted for selection of institutions, the government said that "these madrassas have to apply to the state government in the prescribed format for receiving grant-in-aid."
It was stated that the proposals submitted by the CEOs are submitted to the state grant-in-aid committee through respective directors of school education.
"All those madrassas are being provided with grant-in-aid, provided they fulfill the requisite norms set by the Government of India under the scheme," the government replied.
Meanwhile, on details of institutions which applied for financial assistance, the government replied that around 362 proposals were received through directorates of school education.
"An amount of Rs 347.87 lakh and Rs 382.59 lakh was released to both the directorates after re-verification of these madrassas as recurring grants," replied the government.
