Youths arrested in Delhi are Innocent: Jamaat-e-Islami
SRINAGAR, Mar 03: Jamaat e Islami J&K has strongly denied the involvement of two youth in any unlawful activity who has been arrested by Delhi police few days ago.
JI spokesman has appealed all the human rights forums and the impartial legal experts to come forth and give their opinion and fight for the innocent victims of the police highhandedness so that it does not turn into a lawless force in the future.
The contradictory claims regarding the actual places of arrest of two youth namely Ahtesham Malik and Tauseef Ahmad Peer of Sopore by the Delhi police and the parents of the arrestees makes this whole affair confusing and for avoiding of this big confusion, the matter needs to be probed by a high-level impartial judicial authority. On the one hand, the police claims that they have been arrested in Delhi while as their parents say that they have been picked up in their presence from their homes in Jharkhand. It is a known fact that so far a number of such claims by the police in the different parts of India have been proved totally false and concocted and as a result a number of the innocent accused persons were acquitted by the higher judiciary of India.
Keeping this fact in view, the matter needs a thorough and impartial probe to test the veracity of the police claim. Not to disclose the actual place and time of the arrest of any person speaks a lot in itself and this whole process becomes unreliable according to due process of law under article 21 of the constitution of India. Such things are not unexpected from the Indian police keeping in view the verdicts of different high courts and the supreme court of India vis-à-vis such cases.
