Historic Eidgah Park Thrown Open For General Public

SRINAGAR; 16, Aug 2012: Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Mubarak Gul today visited Idgah and dedicated Eidgah Park to the public, besides inaugurating fountains and swimming pool inside the park. The Advisor was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mr. Baseer Ahmed
Khan, Vice Chairman Waqaf Board, Mr. M.Y. Qadri, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Dr. G.N. Qasba, Engineers and Officers of Tourism, SMC, SDA, PHE, JKPCC, PDD and Floriculture Department Mr Gul asked the officers and the locals to suggest further steps to be taken by the government for its further upgradation. Reiterating the government’s commitment to fulfil the aspirations of the common people and developmental needs, the Advisor said that in this direction several innovative and exemplary initiatives have already been taken to ensure all round development in the State, especially in Shehr-i- Khas. Vice Chairman, Waqaf Board, Mr. M.Y. Qadri said that Eid–ul-Fitre Namaz will be offered at Eidgah ground and for the purpose, work for dewatering, leveling and upgradation of light system is going on and will be completed before the Eid- ul-Fitre. Mr. Gul also inspected the historic Idgah ground where presently levelling and upgradation work is going on fast track. He was informed, that levelling of Idgah ground would be completed before the Eid and for the purpose, the concerned departments have already been put into service to clean unwanted weeds and water from the ground.
