Mobile Phones shut on India's Independence day
SRINAGAR; 15, Aug 2012: Cell phones across Kashmir Valley fell silent Wednesday morning as official functions to celebrate the India's 66th Independence Day started in Srinagar.
Mobile phones from various service providers, including BSNL, Airtel, Aircel, Reliance, Vodafone, Idea and Tata, fell silent around 9am till noon.
No official comment was available why mobile and internet services were shut down.
Last year also these services were jammed on the same day.
Similarly from past 2 years, SMS services are blocked in Kashmir.
