Protests erupted on Eid

SRINAGAR; 20, Aug 2012: Protests erupted at various places in Valley on the day of Eid against the detention of Hurriyat leaders. Police put all leaders under house arrest, due to youth youths took to streets to protests against the police rule in Kashmir.
In Iddgah area of Srinagar, After offering Eid prayers youths started demonstrations against the Indian authorities, Police intervened due to which clashes took place between the protestors and police. 1 Police Vehcile [Rakshak] was ablazed and 3 police personnels were also injured due to clashes.
In Sopore, People after offering the Eid Prayers started to march towards Qaid's residence in Hyderpora Srinagar. Police used aerial firing and also tear canisters to disperse them.
In Hyderpora Srinagar, a large gathering marched towards Syed Ali Shah Geelani's residence, However Geelani was taken to Police station Humhuma.
Syed Ali Shah Geelani in the morning came out from his house to offer Eid prayers Police arrested him and lodged him in Police Station Humhama Srinagar.
Thousands of people from all parts of the Kashmir visited Geelani's Residence on the day of Eid as the Call to march to his residence was given by all pro-freedom camp.
