SAS Gilani says Antony frustrated dictator, grills Indian media

Srinagar, August 15: Veteran Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani describing Indian Defence Minister AK Antony asa ‘frustrated dictator’ has said that his statement revealed that all democratic claims made by New Delhi are baseless.
Reacting to the Indian Defence Minister’s statement that entire Jammu and Kashmir was part of India, Syed Ali Geelani said that Jammu and Kashmir was a disputed region needing an amicable resolution. Kashmir, as per UN resolutions, is a disputed territory and the Kashmiris are yet to determine their future, he emphasised. “While New Delhi has occupied Kashmir against the will of the people, same cannot be said about Pakistan because the country (Pakistan) has always supported implementation of UN resolutions,” he added.
The country (India) is actually a despotic state that believes in forcible suppression of other nations,” Geelani said adding that India was at war with Kashmir with all her military might and wanted to prolong occupation of the territory purely by military means. “The statement by AK Antony is akin to calling night day and day night, and also contradicts all the agreements made between India and Pakistan and also the UN resolutions,” he added. Meanwhile, objecting to the use of the word ‘separatists’ for the pro-freedom leaders by Indian media persons, Geelani asked them to uphold principles and objectivity in their profession. “The word ‘separatists’ would have been justified had Kashmir ever been a part of India. But the fact is that India has come here as an aggressor, and Kashmiris have never accepted this occupation.”
Geelani’s close aide and General Secretary of the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Muhammad Ashraf Sahrai addressing a religious function at the Sopore Jamia Masjid also said that it was wrong to term pro-India parties as ‘mainstream’ parties. All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) leader, Muhammad Yousuf Naqsh in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly condemned the remarks of Indian Defence Minister, AK Antony that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. He said that Jammu and Kashmir had never remained part of India but was a disputed territory recognized by India and the international community. He said that India itself had taken the dispute to the United Nations.
