Tarigami demands relief to hail storm affected farmers, orchardists of Shopian

SHOPIAN; 23, Aug 2012: Expressing deep sorrow over the damage caused to fruits and standing crops in various areas of district Shopian due to massive hail and wind storm that occurred on 21st August, the State Secretary CPI (M) and MLA Kulgam M. Y. Tarigami has demanded immediate ex-gratia to the affected farmers and orchardists.

Tarigami has enjoined upon the State Administration to assess the quantum of damage and ensure provision of relief to the affected farmers and orchardists. He said about 80 % of the fruit crops have been damaged in Shopian district due to recent wind and hail storm.

The State Secretary has urged the State government to provide relief to affected farmers of the district and the other parts of the Valley.
