JKP to use Facebook & Youtube to track Stunt Bikers
SRINAGAR; 10, Sep 2012: If you are a stunt-maniac and quite often you share your pictures with friends on Facebook to show your stunt performances, beware as the traffic police in the valley have geared up to keep a track of the stunt bikers through social networking and video sharing websites.
Keeping in view the growing number of stunt bikers who perform dreadful stunts on various areas of city, Srinagar traffic police has launched a campaign to trace the location of bikers through Facebook and Youtube and bring them behind the bars.
Superintendent of Traffic police said that through these pictures and videos, they can easily trace out the place where these teenagers are performing these stunts.
“We will use all the social networking sites especially Facebook and YouTube to catch the stunt bikers. We have received the inputs that those who perform stunts share pictures and videos through these sites. Now, it will become easy for us to identify their locations and very soon serious action will be taken against the bikers,” said SP Traffic Haseeb-ur-Rehman.
It is worth mentioning that from the past many years these teenagers are seen performing stunts on city road during the late hours and people in many areas do not come out in the evening due to the fear of getting crushed by the rowdy bikers. These stunt bikers have made different groups, fan pages and communities and continuously post videos and pictures on Facebook and YouTube.
Meanwhile, the traffic department had caught many violators within the time period of four days and had them educated about various traffic norms. “We have launched a campaign of on-spot awareness and educated more than 3,000 violators and instructed them to follow the traffic rules before taking any action and we have also advised them to wear helmet and avoid triple riding and use of mobile while driving,” said the SP traffic.
