MLA wants action against TV anchor caught with Ex MLC

SRINAGAR; 12, Sep 2012: Calling it a 'den of immoral activities', an independent legislator in Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday lashed out at the state broadcaster -Doordarshan- for allowing one of its anchor- caught by the police with a former National Conference leader in a houseboat allegedly in a 'compromising position'- to host a show within 24 hours of the incident.

Abdul Rashid, who represents Langate constituency in the Kashmir Division, demanded the sacking of the anchor.

“DD authorities should have not only dismissed the said anchor from their channel but also condemned the incident but adding salt to the injuries of the people of Jammu and Kashmir they did not take any action against the said female anchor,” he said.

“There can be nothing more shameless and immoral than the fact that morally degraded authorities of Doordarshan allowed the said female anchor to carry on the programe “Good Morning J&K” within 12 hours of the incident,” he added.

Rashid said 'it seems that Doordarshan has become a den and base camp of immoral activities where in the name of cultural activities minds of Kashmiri youths are being poisoned with immoral and shameful acts'.

He demanded stern action against DD authorities and said 'common masses have right to know that how the the TV anchor was allowed to host a program after this 'grave incident'. However, he appreciated role of JK police in acting promptly despite the huge pressure from the political and bureaucratic set up.
