Raina remanded to police custody
SRINAGAR; 24, April 2013: A local court here today remanded second accused arrested in the spurious drugs scam to seven days police custody.
The accused, Amardeep Raina, was produced before Forest Magistrate (Duty Magistrate) Jammu, Adnan Sayed, by Crime Branch after he was arrested from New Delhi and brought here on a transit remand. After hearing the prosecution, the court granted seven days police remand to the Crime Branch with the direction that he shall be produced before the court again before the expiry of remand.
The third accused in the case, Akhil Gadoo, continues to avoid his arrest. Crime Branch officials said that efforts were being made to arrest him but he is suspected to have left the state.
Meanwhile, according to sources, the government is mulling to transfer the case to State Vigilance Commission (SVC) soon after the completion of investigation by the police and Crime Branch.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, Law and Parliamentary affairs Minster Mir Saifullah said his ministry was mulling to send the case to SVC and Government would not spare anybody involved in the scam.
“SVC can not take over the case in the middle. Let the police wings complete the probe,” Saifullah said and hoped that investigations would be completed soon. “Once we receive the investigation report we will send it to SVC.”
Law Minister said the Government is closely monitoring the developments.
