Shabir Shah visits Afzal's family

BARAMULLA; 22, April 2013: Democratic Freedom Party Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah immediately after his release from jail and house arrest managed to reach the home town of Afzal Guru Doabagh in Sopore.

Expressing sympathy with the bereaved family members Shah said that martyrdom has a special place before Allah [SWT]. All the martyrs from 1947 who had laid down their lives are the people of great stature.
The situation has proved that Afzal guru was a man of great concern and had attained the martyrdom which is the fortune of only great people.

However he condemned the action of the government of India and said that going with his hanging was an illegal, inhuman and undemocratic act on part of the government of India which was very painful to us. “It is matter of serious concern that Indian government buckled under the pressure of communal forces and hanged him and made us remember the painful moments of the hanging of Muhammad Maqbool Bhat,”

Freedom Party Chairman said. “India should not have forget that the hanging of Bhat has rejuvenated the freedom struggle and bring the Kashmir issue at the international stage. The martyrdom of Afzal guru has bring back the memories of the martyrs who laid down their lives in the path of freedom movement. The nation will not forget the sacrifices and will continue the freedom movement till its logical conclusion,” he said.
Kashmir nation is very conscious politically and will not forget the sacrifices. The people who have not forget the sacrifices of Bhat and others from 1947 will not also forget the sacrifice of Afzal Guru. “We are the guardians of these sacrifices and will not let go them waste and will continue our struggle. Nobody will be allowed to play with the mission of the great martyrs.

Shah said that India is not serious in resolving the Kashmir issuepeacefully, but the government terrorism will not be able to solve the political issue.

“Non-seriousnes s and rigid approachof the government is responsible for the increase in the bad situation in the valley. The situation is going frombad to worse day by day. By arrestingthe political leaders and harassing and arresting youth their passion for freedom will not be suppressed. Denying the prisoners basic facilities will make them physically weak but their craving for Azadi will not deter under any circumstances,” he added.

Shah said that Kashmir issue is a political issue and the hanging, lifers, arrests, harassments are no solution but for a solution you need political decisions.

Today concerned people from India are building pressure on India that the mortal remains of Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Bhat should be returned to their family members. “Civil society of the world is taking notice of the human rights violations in India and are condemned it.

“The demand of the kashmiri people is the rerun of the mortal remains of Bhat and Guru but the Indian Government is denying it which is undemocratic and against the basic principles. India will have to pay for their oppressive policies. They will have to return the mortal remains of our martyrs,” he added.

Later shah went to the house of Tahir Ahmad Sofi where he expressed sympathy with the bereaved family members. “It is very unacceptable that the killers of Tahir Sofi have not yet been arrested when the killers are already known. We condemn the lackadaisical approach of the government in this regard,” he added.

Shah was once again put under house arrest and could not go Palhallan as was planned.
