Slapped Officer Flees MoS Home’s Town, Cites Threat

KISHTWAR; 19, April 2013: The chief executive officer (CEO) of the Kishtwar Development Authority (KDA), Riyaz Ahmad Chaudhary, who was slapped yesterday by minister of state for home Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo and beaten up by his guards, has left the area along with his family, citing a security threat.
“I am now facing a security threat in the area,” Chaudhary said. “When a minister who controls the police department slaps and abuses me publicly, what guarantee is there that I and my family will be safe in his hometown?”

“I will not compromise with the minister,” the officer, who has applied to the police seeking an FIR against Kitchloo, said. “I will not resume my job until the chief minister calls for an explanation from the minister of state who also is a government servant.”
“I want to know whether the constitution has given the authority to any minister to slap a government servant. If not, why till date is the state government fearing to take action under law against the minister and describe slap upon me as an attack on the whole bureaucracy of the state. I am an honest and upright officer. I perform my duty honestly. I don't take part in political rallies. I have lodged a written complaint in this regard with the police at Kishtwar,” he said.
“If they fail to do so, I will take legal action to get the case registered. I will fight till the very end," he said.
