Strike only way to show resentment, register protest: Geelani "Asks transporters, traders and employees to make call asuccess"

KN DESK: 19, April 2013 Chairman Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Geelani reiterated his call for shutdown on Saturday against the supply of spurious drugs to Kashmir hospitals. In a statement issued here, Geelani said though the shutdown calls do have an adverse effect but when human lives are at stake, shutdown is the only option to show resentment and register protest.  s.a.s g “India and its forces with every possible means are hell bent to suppress the ongoing movement and even the heavy deployment of armed forces by India has been recorded in Guinness world record.” added Geelani He said the presence of armed forces within the closevicinity of populated areas has badly affected the peopleand has resulted in stress among the masses which in turn has increased the number of Psychiatric patients Terming the spurious drug supply a grave crime, Geelanisaid that the innocent people are being killed through these fake medicines. Kashmir has become a safe haven for the spurious drug trade and medicines worth millions of rupees are being consumed. “Given the situation, it is clear that through spurious drugs the people are being made soft targets and the involvement of big fishes in scandal speaks the gravity of the conspiracy and state terrorism,” said Geelani. While expressing his concernover the silence maintained by the authorities, Geelani said that it depicts conspiracy hatched is not an ordinary matter but a “pre planned genocide.” Reiterating his demand for impartial probe, Geelani said that the fake drug scandal is directly linked with the death of hundreds of children in GB Pant Hospital and the former Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma and chairman purchase committee are obviously responsible for it. “An FIR for murder should be registered against them and they should be brought to justice,” said Geelani “We appeal to the International Red Cross and international human rights organizations to take serious cognizance of it and play their role in conducting an impartial investigation.” ­ added Geelani. Geelani appealed to transporters, traders, shopkeepers and state employees stressed to make the call a success keeping in view the national cause.
