Anti-PDD demos in Islamabad and Srinagar
SRINAGAR; 15, May 2013: Scores of hamlets continue to reel under darkness as the Power Development Department (PDD) has miserably failed to repair the damaged transformers. Hundreds of people blocked roads Larkipora and Devsar in Islamabad district while people in Shalimar Srinagar staged a protest and blocked traffic for hours against the non-availability of transformer in the area.
According to reports, agitated protestors blocked Islamabad-Pahalgam road near Larkipora and wrapped the transformer in a shroud. Protestors raised anti-PDD and anti-government slogans and alleged that from last three months their damaged transformer was not repaired as a result the whole area has been reeling under darkness.
Men, women, and youth placed logs on roads and blocked the road for hours. Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Islamabad Ghulam Rasool assured protestors that a new transformer will be installed within 24 hours in the area.
Similar protests occurred in Shalimar Srianagar and Arimpora Devsar against the non-availability of transformers. People used public address system in Shalimar and raised anti-government and anti-PDD slogans.
