Man lost his life while rescuing drowning boy
SRINAGAR; 14, May 2013: A labour lost his own life while trying to rescue a drowning boy in South Kashmir’s Lalipora, Malapora area of Qazigund,Islamabad.
According to reports, few labours including a 14 years old boy were carrying logs across a Nallah Sindhran at Lalipora, Malapora. Due to lack of any bridge there, labours were busy in taking logs from one end to another by wading in the said Nallah.
Eyewitnesses told a local news gathering agency CNS, that the boy Mohmmad Ashraf Bhat son of Mohammad Yousf resident of Banimohalla, Kulgam carrying a log was swept away by flowing waters and suddenly to his rescue, a labour Fayaz Ahmed Bhat son of Mohammad Ramzan Bhat jumped into the Nallah. Though, he succeeded to save the boy but was himself carried away by speedy waters. Scores of people including cops rushed to the spot and after an hour, his body was fished out from the Nallah.
“We rushed Fayaz to hospital, however the doctors declared him brought dead,” a police official told.
People of the area alleged that from last 4 years a bridge over this Nallah is under construction. However according to people the contractor Mashooq Ahmed Parray from Sadoora, Islamabad works for few days in a month and then never turns up. People appealed the government to construct the bridge as early as possible in order to avoid such mishaps in future. (CNS)
