People protest against water scarcity in Zainakot
SRINAGAR; 25, May 2013: Residents of Babar Riyan Colony Zainakot staged protest demonstrations in the area and alleged that PHE department supply water to blue-eyed persons in their tankers.
The protestors said there was acute water shortage in the area adding that authorities had failed to come to their rescue. They appealed the Divisional Commissioner Shailendra Kumar and Executive Engineer PHE to look into the matter.
A lady from the area told CNS that on Saturday morning, PHE water tanker stopped at the residence of a reputed doctor and supplied water to the house. “When some women came out with their buckets, the PHE driver arrogantly refused to fill their buckets with water and left the place,” she said.
An official from PHE said that he will look into the matter and action will be taken against the driver
