Police arrests extortion gang in Bandipora

BANDIPORA; 08, May 2013: Police has claimed to have arrested a group of buglers who were extorting money from civilians at gunpoint from North Kashmir’s Bandipora.

According to police Assistant sub inspector (ASI) of Indian reserve police (IRP) Abdul Aziz of Poonch District was posted as Guard incharge at guest house in Srinagar where his service pistol was stolen by Constable Mohammad Sikandar and was extorting money in Sumbal bandipora.

They further said “Police during a Naka checking by Sumbal Police along with 2 RR at Dangerpora, Sumbal, intercepted a suspected a vehicle Tavera bearing registration number JK01P/6383. The vehicle was stopped and during the search police recovered a Pistol, one Pistol Magazine, 50 SLR rounds and 2 two SLR Magazines 2 SIM cards, 1 Bandooli , 2 cell phone and cash of Rs. 1450 from four men Reyaz Ahmad Gojri son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Pattan, Jahangir Ahmad Pandith son of Abdul Rashid resident of Kunzer, Ghulam Hassan Shah son of Abdul Ahad resident of Goripora Kunzar and Sikander Ramzan resident of Pattan”.

“All the four were detained. One of the detainees Sikander Ramzan is a police constable posted as a hotel guard in Srinagar” they further said adding that a case FIR no; 83/2013 has been registered in this regard.
