Principal allegedly compelled girl students to dance

PULWAMA; 13, April 2013: Leaving ethics and moral principles to winds, the Principal, Higher Secondary School (HSS) and Lecturers Noorpora, Tral allegedly compelled scores of girl students to dance with them soon after the closure of school when majority of the male students had left from the Higher Secondary. After the objection from some of the students and outcry from locals all the staff including the said Principal are absconding. The Principal admitted that he is not showing up because the people are violent.
   
Eyewitnesses told that Principal Bashir Ahmed Shiekh soon after the closure of the School called scores of girl students and allegedly compelled them to dance. During this course, several lecturers were present as well and they according to eyewitnesses moved their legs with these students.
   
As the word spread in the area, hundreds of people rushed to HSS Noorpora next day, however all the lecturers and the Prinicipal were absent. Heads of the villages used public address system against the said staff of the HSS and urged people assemble in HSS to seek justification from the Principal.
   
“My staff called me on phone and advised me stay absent as the people were violent. Accordingly I forwarded a leave and these days I am on leave and not absconding,” Principal Bashir of Shiekh told.
   
He said KCEF Law College, Pulwama had invited some of our talented students to attend a function. “Girl students depart from school after boys and we maintain a gap of about 15 minutes. When all the boys had departed, I in the good faith called some girls in a circle and asked about the invitation. Some of the girls showed their talent and danced there. I admit I was present there but some people are hell bent to malign my image,” the Principal said.
   
He further said that girl students danced voluntarily and he did not force anyone. When asked was this invitation exclusively for girl students, the Principal said that the invitation was for all the students. Locals told that if the invitation was meant for all students then why only girls were informed and made to dance.
   
“Why the Principal has failed to give justification and why he is not attending the school,” a local said.
