POONCH; 25, May 2013: An Indian Army trooper was killed and another injured when a land mine exploded near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.

Lance Naik Naresh Kumar was killed on the spot and another trooper got injured when they stepped over the mine along the LoC in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district last night, a defence spokesman said here today.

The two victims were part of Road Opening Party (ROP) when the incident took place, he said, adding body of Kumar will be sent to his native place in Haryana after completion of all formalities. The injured trooper has been hospitalized, he added.
