PULWAMA; 19, July 2013: Panic gripped in Samboora area of Pampore town when security guards of Social Welfare Minister Sakina Itoo resorted to indiscriminate aerial firing after the cavalcade of the minister was attacked by agitated protestors.

Eyewitnesses said that Minister for Social Welfare Sakina Itoo was returning to Srinagar from Shopian when her cavalcade was halted by a protesting mob. “As her cavalcade reached near Samboora Pampore, agitated youth resorted to heavy stone pelting and smashed the window panes of various vehicles accompanying her,” one of the eyewitnesses said.

As the youth tried to attack the vehicle carrying the minister, the security guards came down from the vehicles and resorted to aerial firing which created panic in the area. Timely intervention from the police saved the minister from the wrath of the agitated protestors.
