3 more youth held for Aug 15 attack on students

BARAMULLA: 20, Aug 2013: Three more youth were arrested by police in its ongoing drive against the stone peters in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Manzoor Ahmad Baba, Mohammad Shafi Baba and Mudasir Ahmad Dar, all residents of Khanpora were picked up by police teams in a series of early yesterday morning in Khanpora area of Baramulla, sources told. The trio, sources said, were arrested for their alleged role in pelting stones on a bus carrying students of Government Middle School, Gingal, who were returning home their participating in August 15 function held at the District Police Lines (DPL) Baramulla. Three girl students, a teacher and a driver were injured in the incident.

On Saturday last, at least five teenagers were arrested from Khanpora area on similar charges.

A senior police officer, wishing not to be named, told that the besides attacking and injuring the students on August 15, the arrested youth were also involved in stone pelting on the forces.

“Law will take its own course. The troublemakers will be put behind the bars,” the officer added.
