Curfew continues in Kishtwar on Day 12 ; Looted weapons recovered

KISHTWAR; 20, Aug 2013: Curfew continued for the 12th day Tuesday in Kishtwar town of Jammu and Kashmir. Police said they have recovered nine guns looted from a gun-shop by rioters on Aug 9. Curfew was relaxed for four hours Monday, during which the situation remained peaceful with no report of any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, an all-party delegation comprising representatives of the regional National Conference (NC), the Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, Samajwadi Party, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Shiromani Akali Dal, Bahujan Samaj Party and Nationalist Congress Party met 70 representatives of the minority community in Kishtwar Monday evening. The delegation is scheduled to meet representatives of the majority community Tuesday. The main opposition party in the state, the People's Democratic Party (PDP), did not participate in the all-party delegation, with its leaders claiming that they were kept out of the delegation by the NC-Congress ruling alliance.
