Hindus attacked muslims on Eid in Kishtwar
KISHTWAR; 09, Aug 2013: Scores of people were injured and properties damaged after Hindu extremists attacked muslim community on Eid day soon after Eid prayers concluded.
The clashes took place after a muslim procession was on way back from Kishtwar to a nearby village after they offered prayers. They were allegedly attacked by the members of Hindu community and at least 12 people (as per eye witnesses) got injured. A DSP was also injured. The situation further flared up and many vehicles and shops were damaged. Rioters also barged into the hotel of a local MLC.
MOS Home Sajjad Kitchloo is also in town. More deployment of forces has been rushed to Kishtwar as the situation is tense. Further details are awaited.
