Kishtwar Riots: 2 Died 80 injured; DC, SP Removed
KISHTWAR; 10, Aug 2013: Two person (a hindu and a muslim) died in the clashes that took place in the Kishtwar town yesterday on the eve of Eid. The clashes took place after some Hindu extremists allegedly attacked muslim worshipers soon after they concluded Eid prayers.
Two persons died and 80 were injured till the last reports came. Meanwhile Official sources said, Baseer Khan has been appointed as the new DC and Sanjay Kumar Kotwal as the new SP of Kishtwar.
As soon as the news about the incident spread, Pro-freedom Leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani called for complete shutdown on saturday in Kashmir region and simultaneously BJP leaders called for Jammu bandh.
By another administrative order, Government has order closure of all educational institutions in Jammu province on Saturday.
Government has also appointed Divisional Commissioner of Jammu Shant Manu as an inquiry officer and directed him to complete an investigation into the Kishtwar turmoil and violence in a time-bound manner.
