Orphan girl gets Passport after CM's tweet
SRINAGAR; 06, Aug 2013: 15 Year old girl Sufaira, hailing from Central Kashmir's Budgam District finally got a passport from Indian authorities after the intervention of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

Various national and local media organizations highlighted the case, forcing Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir to intervene in the matter. Yesterday evening Omar tweeted, "Needless to say she will NOT be denied a passport because of her uncle's past. All such pending cases of previous denials are being cleared. I have asked CID to look in to the passport case of Sufaira. Will revert with the facts once I have them."
Today authorities issued her passport, According to Regional Passport Officer, Srinagar Firdous Iqbal, "We have issued the passport of Sufaira Jan today. Her police verification was received last evening,"
In the previous week, Indian authorities also rejected a passport application of an engineering topper, who got a chance to work in a multi-national software company in USA. His passport was denied on the basis of his father, who is also an ex-militant.
