Shopian attack: HM claims responsibility

Shopian; 26, Aug 2013; (CNS) One CRPF Trooper was killed and one was injured when Rebels attacked their vehicle in Awanera area of South Kashmir's Shopian district on Monday evening. The deceased CRPF Trooper has been identified as Raja Ram from 14th Battalion CRPF. Police said that two CRPF Troopers including the driver were injured when Rebels fired on a CRPF vehicle at Awanera, Shopian this evening. One of the CRPF men later succumbed to his injuries. The vehicle, according to police was on escort duty and was on the road. Meanwhile Hizbul Mujhadeen while claiming the responsibility of the attacked told news gathering agency CNS that such attacks would be carried out in future as well. "Our Special Guerrilla Squad attacked on CRPF vehicle and killed one of them. We would carry such attacks in future as well. HM would intensify its attacks on Police and Security personnel," HM operational spokesperson, Baleeg-u-Din told CNS on phone. (CNS)
