Shopian opens partially; Yasin Malik visited many Areas
SHOPIAN; 24, Aug 2013: Normalcy returned in South Kashmir's Shopian town today however some shops remained closed. Meanwhile, according to sources 4 more youth were rounded up by Police today.
Police and Paramilitary troopers were once again deployed in all volatile areas of the town.
Hundreds of youth have fled from their homes to evade the arrest and are spending the days and nights under the endless sky.
In a meeting between District administration Shopian and Trade & Manufacturers association, a committee was framed to submit its report on the demands of youth.
Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik today also visited many areas of the district including Reban, Chittragam and Nagbal. While addressing a public gathering, Malik threatened the government of a mass agitation. He said, "We are appealing police authorities to release the detained youth or we will launch an agitation against the police and will hold sit-in protests in Shopian main market."
