Shopian shuts on the 4th Consecutive Day
SHOPIAN; 20. Aug 2013: Amid protests, Complete shutdown was observed today on the fourth consecutive day in Shopian over the alleged excesses by the Police personnel.
A few markets opened however Protests and Stone-pelting incidents still erupted in Main market, Tak Mohalla and Bonabazar areas.
More than a half dozen youth were arrested by the police during these four days.
A meeting was scheduled to be held today between the protesters and the shopkeeper, The Trade federation Shopian didn’t participated in the meeting Hence youth announced to continue shut-down.
The youth ate demanding probe into the incident of 17th Aug, release of detainees and compensation to the two houses that were allegedly damaged by Police personnel on Saturday.
