Shopian shuts on Day 2
SHOPIAN; 18, Aug 2013: Complete Shutdown and clashes rock South Kashmir's Shopian town on Day 2 against the alleged desecration of Holy Quran.
Clashes between the Indian forces and protesters, once again began from early morning and continued till the last reports came. Two persons are reportedly injured today. Meanwhile youth of the town had called for complete boycott against the local dailies who published that the desecration of Holy Quran was a rumor.
Meanwhile Youth in Shopian today also called for complete boycott to local dailies.
Yesterday locals blame on Police that they have torn a copy of Holy Quran in Bonabazar area. The announcements were made from masjids of loudspeakers and violent clashes rocked the entire town. 9 people including three policemen were injured in clashes. Police during the night raids arrested 4 persons.
The District Commissioner Shopian, Bashir Ahmad Bhat and The S.H.O Irshad Ahmad termed these allegations as baseless and said no such kind of incident occurred.
