KMR NEWS: Muslims like in some other Asian nations are also living a miserable life in Sri lanka. The Buddhist monks in Sri Lanka doesn't want muslim women to wear Hijab (A head covering worn in public). They demand ban on Hijab like in France. The other demands of Buddhist monks are that Government should impose a ban on Cattle Slaughtering, These monks are also against the Halaal (meat prepared as prescribed by Muslim law) certifying of food. The main cause behind their anger is that Muslim population is increasing rapidly and now they are attacking muslims in masjids (mosques).

These Buddhist monks are backed by the Sri Lankan government. Although there a some muslim members also in the government but they are silent and protecting their positions and chairs. According to locals, the attackers are from BSS (Bodu Bala Sena) group.

Today, a masjid in Columbo was attacked while muslim worshipers were offering Maghrib (Evening) prayers. Not only the masjid, but surrounding houses belonging to muslims were also attacked and four muslims were injured. The Imam of the masjid also sustained injuries. In the past month, during Ramdhan (the holy month of muslims) many mosques in Sri lanka's capital city Columbo were attacked.

According to a source, The goons of BSS (Bodu Bala Sena) group are backed by top VVIP Gotabaya Rajapakse., who is holding an important portfolio in the Sri lankan government. He is also brother and a close aide of the Sri Lankan president.

Srilanka is just recovering from a 30 year civil war against the Tamil separatists,the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam). The Jamiathul Ulema of Srilanka is doing their utmost to defuse the situation but the BBS are not ready for a peaceful settlement.
