Army Rule Cannot Sustain for Long in J&K: Shah
BANDIPORA; 27, Sep 2013: Freedom Party Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah today said the Kashmir leadership cannot remain mute spectators over what he called atrocities inflicted by the troops on Kashmiri people.
Addressing a rally at main Chowk Bandipora, Shah said that it has now become evident that the civil administration and Indian army have become collaborators in suppressing the ‘freedom movement’ here. Commenting on the former Army General V. K. Singh’s recent controversial statements, he said that they have been always saying that the government of India with Army’s help is suppressing the Kashmir’s movement and former army Chief’s statement confirms that Army rules in Kashmir.
Supporting the Indo-Pak peace overtures, Shah said the cordial relations between India and Pakistan will facilitate resolution of Kashmir issue and if the two countries confront, it will only result in a war.
In a statement issued to a local news gathering agency, Shah condemned the continuous curfew in Shopian and has demanded that the people of the area should not be tortured further.
Muslim Conference Chairman Shabir Dar, Islamic Political Party Chairman, Muhammad Yusuf Naqash, International Forum for Justice Chairman Muhammad Ahsan Untoo and other Freedom Party activists also addressed people at Bandipora.
