Cultural show in GMC ‘shameful’: DAK

SRINAGAR; 13, Sep 2013: Expressing its strong resentment over the organizing of cultural show in government medical college (GMC) Srinagar on Thursday, the Doctors Association of Kashmir (DAK) has termed it a “shameful and painful.”

“This is unfortunate that our own people are holding cultural shows at a time when whole Kashmir is mourning innocent killings. People on one hand are killed in cold blooded murder and on the other hand we are enjoying and cherishing these killings by singing and dancing,” DAK President, Dr. Nisar ul Hassan in a statement issued to GNS said.

“This is shocking that principal GMC had consented for this cultural show which was indecent and immoral. This has hurt the sentiments and emotions of the people of Kashmir,” Dr. Nisar added.

He said our heads are in shame on seeing doctors celebrating musical shows and adding salt to the wounds of Kashmiris. “The musical show was organized at a time when whole land is blood bathed which is unacceptable and intolerable.”

DAK President said we are killed for our only fault that we have raised voice against repressive forces. “Our women are being gang raped and we cannot even vent our anger and anguish. This is genocide in a well-planned way by India to continue its illegal occupation. We have lost our honor and dignity; we have lost everything. India has given a free hand to armed forces to kill Kashmiris and this is an eye opener for all of us that nobody is safe here as forces have been given a license to kill. This is the grave human rights violation and abuse of civil rights at its worst which is done with a sinister design,” he said.

Dr. Nisar said there is a need to strike the doors of our conscience and arouse our souls. He said time has come for this nation to come out on roads against these atrocities and oppression. “We cannot make compromises on the sacrifices of our martyrs which will not be allowed at any cost.”

“This is a “do or die” situation for this nation. Intellectuals have to acknowledge and realize their responsibility. The Principal GMC and other organizers owe an explanation to the nation. They have to apologize to the nation,” he added. (GNS)
