Curfew Imposed in South Kashmir

SHOPIAN; 10, Sep 2013: A strict curfew has been imposed in South Kashmir's Pulwama and Kulgam town to thwart 'Shopian Chalu' call given by Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

Meanwhile, Curfew continues in Shopian town on the fourth consecutive day.

Sources from Gagren area of Shopian informed, ":Despite strict curfew and huge deployment of forces with roit-gear vehicles protests broke out in Gagren Shopian where large no.of people are trying to break the curfew and make the Shopian chalo call sucess where hurriyat leaders will adress the gathering. Annoucements are being made through loudspeakers, urging people to come out on roads and defy the curfew. Entire area rumbling pro freedom and jihadi taranas."

In Pulwama, authorities issued shoot and sight orders as per locals however authorities said that Curfew has been imposed to safeguard the lives and property of people.

Yesterday Geelani called for 'Shopian Chalu' to offer joint funeral prayers of the four civilians killed by 14Bn of CRPF in Gagren area on 7th September."

While as parts of north kashmir and Srinagar is normal, no untoward incident reported from any part of the city so far.
