Syed Geelani has asked people to converge outside his residence at Hyderpora in Srinagar on Wednesday from where he intends to lead a march to the UN military observer’s office in Srinagar.

He has also called for a shutdown in the valley on Saturday, September 21.

Geelani has said it is not enough for the “freedom-loving” to hold protest demonstrations after the occupying forces have committed an atrocity.

“Instead there needs to be a continuity in our struggle in order to shake the conscience of the international community,” he said.

He has said that the “long silence” adopted by the people of Kashmir after the 2010 unrest has encouraged the Indian forces to plan “systematic killings of our youths.”

“It is evident by the incidents in Markundal, Gool and now Shopian.”

Syed Geelani has been house arrest for a long time now. He says the police have now stopped his senior colleagues and party workers from coming to his residence. He is also now allowed to perform his religious and social duties.
