JCC meets CSC, defers strike till Sep 27
SRINAGAR; 17, Sep 2013: The Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), an amalgam of government employees on Tuesday deferred their strike programme till September 27. The decision came after a deep deliberation between JCC and Cabinet Sub Committee today.
Informing about the decision to GNS, JCC leader Abdul Qayoom Wani said we have called off strike programme till September 27 after assurance from chairman Cabinet Sub Committee (CSC) Abdul Rahim Rather to fulfill our genuine demands.
“CSC showed positive response in the meeting. We are hopeful that our demands will be fulfilled,” Wani said, adding that if they failed to do so, we will launch a massive protest programme and will create hurdles for upcoming assembly session.
To push for their demands JCC had earlier issued a five day protest calendar which was scheduled from September 17, a candlelight march on September 18, Civil Secretariat Gherao on September 19 and State wide demonstrations on September 20 and 21.
When Contacted Minister for Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-din, who is also the member of CSC told GNS that we are discussing the demands of employees and we are having another meeting with them after ten days. “We will recommend the genuine demands put forth by employees and the final decision in this regard will be taken by Cabinet,” Taj said.
Representatives from JCC who attended the meeting were Abdul Qayoom Wani, Rouf Ahmed Bhat, Muhammad Gafoor Dar and Haji Muhammad Ashraf Bhat.
The meeting was headed by Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather who is also the chairman of Cabinet Sub Committee (CSC), Minister for Medical Education, Taj Mohi-u-Din, Minister of Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for Labour and Employment, Ajay Sadhotra and Chief Secretary Muhammad Iqbal Khanday and various other government officials.
It is pertinent to mention here that employees are demanding raise of the retirement age bar from 58 to 60 years, regularization of daily and need-based workers who have been engaged after 1994, removal of pay anomalies of clerical cadre and budgetary support to sick public sector corporations for payment of wages to workers.
