Kashmir attack: Sikh man booked under PSA
SRINAGAR: 15 , SEP 2013: Jammu and Kashmir police have slapped Public Safety Act that allows detention without trial for at least two years on a Sikh man accused of abetting a militant attack in which five Central Reserve Police Force troopers were killed earlier this year.
Highly placed sources say Pradeep Singh a resident of north Kashmir's Baramulla district was slapped with PSA over his alleged role in the Police-Public School attack in Bemina.
Singh according to police sources played a key role in helping militants to strike on CRPF in the premises of Police Public School premises Bemina in which five CRPF troopers were killed.
Singh is accused of giving 'moral and logistic support to militants'. Though police in its report have booked Singh only under section 19 of unlawful activities but according to sources he played a cardinal role in helping militants to make this operation successful.
District Development Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmed Shah says PSA for such a person is mandatory. “You please contact Senior Superintendent of Police for further details. But I tell you that such persons are liable to be booked under PSA,” he says.
Senior Superintendent Police, Srinagar, Ashiq Bukhari says: “Let me check and see whether this person has been booked under PSA or not.”
