Kashmir Shuts against Civilian Killings

SRINAGAR; 14, Sep 2013: Kashmir observed shutdown on Saturday in protest against the recent incidents of civilian killings in south Kashmir's Shopian district.

 All shops, business establishments, educational institutions in the valley were shut as public transport also ceased services.

Meanwhile Curfew continues in Shopian district, while Curfew has been lifted from Pulwama and Kulgam districts after two days today.

The shutdown call was given by Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani to protest against innocent killings in Gagren Shopian.

Pertinently Four civilians were killed by 14Bn of CRPF in Gagren Shopian on 7th of September and to prevent law and order, authorities clamped the curfew. However Curfew was relaxed on 11th of September but CRPF again shot dead one more civilian and the situation turned out of control due to which authorities re-imposed the indefinite curfew.
