Shabir Shah and Others visited Shopian
SHOPIAN; 24, Sep 2013: Democratic Freedom Party Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah and others including Muhammad Yousuf Naqash and Shabir Ahmad Bhat visited to the bereaved families of Shopian.
Pertinently 5 youth were killed in Shopian on 7th and 11th of September by 14 Bn of CRPF in Gagren area.
Shah addressed a public gathering in Jamia Market Shopian. Hundreds of people mostly youth thronged to streets to welcome Shah Saheb. Later a peaceful demonstration chanting pro-freedom and pro-islamic slogans marched through the streets of main town.
Shah said, “I salute to the people of Shopian for their resistance against the Indian regime. A consecutive shutdown including curfew for 15 days is not an easy thing. I came here as soon as authorities lifted restrictions outside my house.”
He also stressed on hurriyat factions and said, “It is our dream to unite the hurriyat and other pro-freedom groups and fight for freedom under one umbrella.”
Shah sahib also visited to the house of Adil Wachkoo in Bonabazar Shopian, who was injured in the incident on 7th September.
Later the demonstrators dispersed peacefully.
