PULWAMA; In its efforts to eliminate drug trafficking, Police recovered huge quantity of cannabis in three separate raids in Awantipora area last evening.
Acting on a specific information, police Awantipora recovered 12.5kg cannabis from the houses of Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Bargam, Abdul Ahad Tantray son of Ghulam Mohi-u-din resident of Harpora. 2.5 Kgs of cannabis was recovered from p...oultry farm belonging to Mehraj-u-din Lone son of Ali Mohammad resident of Bonpora Bargam.
Awantipora Police has registered cases FIR No.05/2014, 06/2014 and 07/2014 under section 8/20 NDPS Act in these regard.
All the three accused persons have been arrested and are being questioned. Investigation of these cases is going on and more recoveries and arrests are expected.
Pertinent to mention here that it is the 4th success of Awantipora police against the drug menace in the fortnight as 11 kgs charas were recovered from Sofigund Tral on 04-01-2014, 2.5 Kgs of Charas were recovered from Khrew on 10-01-2013 and 08 Kgs in Pampore.
People of the area have appreciated the efforts of police against drug trafficking.
