Hurriyat Conference is guardian of ‘martyrs’ blood’: Shah


SRINAGAR: (KNS) Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir (HCJK) on Monday held a meeting at its party headquarters here in Sanat Nagar, Srinagar in connection with the Kupwara killing incident that took place on January 27, 1994.
According to a statement issued to KNS, the meeting attended by senior resistance leaders Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Muhammad Yusuf Naqash, Shabir Ahmad Dar, Farooq Ahmad Dar and Muhammad Iqbal Mir was presided over by senior Hurriyat leader Shabir Ahmad Shah.
The Hurriyat leaders severely condemned the killing of 27 innocent people by Indian forces on January 27, 1994 in Kupwara and expressed resentment over the failure of Indian government and Indian human rights commission in bringing the culprits of the massacre to book. “The leaders also expressed solidarity with the victims’ families.”
Addressing the meeting, Shabir Ahmad Shah said: “Until or unless Indian occupant forces are not eliminated from this land, the unfortunate incidents like Gaw Kadal, Handwara, Kupwara, Bijbehara, Hazratbal, Shopian and Sopore will continue.”
He added: “We should always remember our brave martyrs who by sacrifcing their precious lives took the Kashmir issue out of cold block and highlighted it at international level.”
Paying glowing tributes to all the martyrs, Shah said that Hurriyat Conference is the guardian of their ‘sacred blood’.
“Indian forces even today have used force on peaceful protestors in Kupwara. Condemning the autocratic and dictatorial approach of rulers and forces, the leaders said the struggle against Indian oppression will continue at any cost,” the statement read.
It added that during the meeting, the Hurriyat leaders while condemning the continued arrest of Chairman, International Forum for Justice and Human Rights, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo termed it as “total injustice”. (KNS)
