Protest in Press Enclave, Seeking Tehsil Status to Ajas
SRINAGAR; A demonstration was held today by a group of people from Ajas area of Bandipora. The demonstrators were demanding tehsil status.
As per a protester, Imran Rather, “Our village is of about 20 kms away from district Bandipora and at a same distance from Sumbal Tehsil. We are facing hardships. Our village got Nayabat in 1963 but later it was dissmissed by the then blue eyed and corrupt politicians. But before some years nayabat (Naib-tehsil) status was given again. Now we demand for Tehsil status to our village which is our right”
Another protester, Muhammad Ali said, “Our village and its adjourning areas, an estimated population of about 70 thousand are suffering hard as there is a lack of tehsil headquarter, so to ease our sufferings we will fight for our birth right.”
Protesters also alleged that some ‘corrupt’ politician’s are playing dirty politcs and want to divert tehsil status to their areas.
