'Army Men' Barged Into Residential House in Budgam; Protests Erupted

BUDGAM; Two 'Indian Army men' barged into a residence in central Kashmir Wednesday evening, triggering protests by locals which are still going on.

Senior police and district administration officials have arrived in the village to pacify the protestors who have been allegedly assaulted by Army men.

Reports said the incident took in Waripora Kunzer village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district when villagers caught two 'Army' personnel who had barged into a house, creating panic in the area.

The villagers then handed over the 'Army' personnel to officials at Magam police station. However, when the forces got aware of the development, a unit of Indian Army arrived in the village and thrashed the locals for handing over their men to the police.

“Two Armymen had barged into a house. We handed them over to the police. Moments later, Army men came to the village and assaulted the locals. They didn’t spare even the children,” a local from Waripora Kunzer, wishing anonymity, told .

A senior police official confirmed that two people in suspicious circumstances were handed over to police by the locals. However, he refused to comment if the duo were army sources. “The two are in our custody.” he said.
