Indian Army Says 7 Insurgents Killed in Kupwara
News Desk; Indian troopers killed seven rebels in a gunbattle Monday in the northern district Kupwara, the army said.
Army spokesman Lt. Col. Nitin Narhar Joshi said the fighting erupted after Indian troopers came under rebel gunfire while patrolling the forested region of Kupwara.
The report could not be independently verified.
He said the troopers suffered no casualties and troops are searching for other suspected rebels in the region.
It is pertinent to mention here, when Army last time claimed that they have killed over 15 insurgents in the same region, after months it proved no encounter took place and no one was killed. The then was termed as a hoax by the authorities.
