Now Kashmir has its news satire website

News Desk (KNS): Achieving yet another milestone in the cyber world, Kashmir’s youth have launched a satire type news website wherein the vital news stories pertaining to the masses here are covered in the humorous format.
According to the reports received by Kashmir News Service (KNS), Kashmir’s youth have found this novel site interesting and the links are already being shared in the social networking sites. According to the site owners, the information in the site is nothing sans fiction and that it is being pretended to be a news site, a format perfected by the leading satire websites globally like the Onion.
The stories covered by the site include ‘Government bans Kehwa to curb sexual assaults’, ‘PDP to replace party symbol with finger’ and ‘Now Geelani to donate lal chowk’. The site owners stated,”We try to remain sensitive to the sensitivities of the people. We know people are always ready to jump the gun, so we tread the path of carefulness,”

They maintain further that Kashmir has a rich tradition of satire, in arts as well as everyday life. Centuries of oppression gave birth to Bhand Pather, a popular folk drama, which ironically is on life support these days. So we are doing nothing new, only using this spirit through a modern medium. Satire websites are fairly common in today’s world, but as we know (and to our best knowledge we are not joking), Kashmir has been missing one. As we had nothing worth to do, we became a willing clown. The sites of such format have already been encouraged at National level and faking news is one such example wherein the matters related to politics are being analyzed in the satirical format. (KNS)
