SOPORE: A top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen hasbeen Killed in a firefight with government forces in North Kashmir’s Sopore town, some 55 kms from Jammu and Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar.

The firefight raged between the militant commander Shafi Sheikh after a party of army, police's special operation group and central reserve police force cordoned Seelu after receiving a tip off about his presence in a
house.

He was asked to surrender but he declined the offer and started indiscriminate firing, a top police official said.
Sheikh a resident of Zaloora was active in the region since many years.
